Just received my Phunkshun Thermal Ballerclava order. These are awesome. I normally wear a BlackStrap balaclava, but wanted to try out the thermal version of the Phunkshun. It's high-tech Polartec, recycled fabric is warm, soft, comfortable. The part that fits under your helmet is not bulky. The fabric is water resistant, freeze resistant, and anti-microbial so no problems when you are breathing through it while on a cold lift. The colors and patterns are awesome, and there are tons of different versions, though I only purchased the thermal version.The neck part is double layer with the inside consisting of a microfleece. Definitely, do the learning on these and get one. OH, and they are made in Colorado, USA!

Bought several different styles of Phunkshun Wear Tubes and Ballerclavas for winter sports and cold-weather cycling. I have used them significantly more than I originally intended. They are infact quite breathable, and can be worn all day comfortably. They fit under a helmet nicely and stay in place well. Being washed daily there has been no fade or discoloration either. This piece gives you enough of a tight fit to wear another toque or standard headwear without feeling overly uncomfortable. The seams between the bottom section and the top portion could be a bit better sewn as a couple of times it fell off my face during skiing or snowshoeing. All in all a great product and fantastic price good as always!

I have used these to ski on all but the warmest days. They are warm, comfortable, and stay pretty dry even while using them over your mouth and nose as we were forced to do at the ski areas this winter. My only criticism is that I find the black non-fleece part to be slightly too long under my helmet, but I pull the fleece up a bit over the head part to make it perfect.
